Why Winter Tyres

You're better off on Winter Tyres in temperatures of below +7°C

In the winter, when the temperature drops, your summer tyre's compound hardens and loses its flexibility, making it less grippy in these low temperatures.

Winter tyres are made from specially developed compound with more natural rubber so they don’t harden when it’s cold, which means that the winter compound mimics the summer compound in lower temperatures meaning increased grip on the road and greater safety.

Winter or snow tyres have additional grooves in the tread design called "Sipes". Sipes are narrow slices in the tyre that allow the grip blocks individual movement in low grip conditions including snow and ice but also dispensing of water better means that on wet roads performance is measurable better.

Many brake stop tests have compared the benefits of winter over summer tyres in temperatures below +7° C, many of these tests see the braking distances reduced by 19% on ice and snow.

Our main range of winter tyres are reliable tried and tested brands including: Goodyear, Dunlop, Continental, Pirelli, Nexen, Matador etc. These brands all offer good performance but for varying budgets.
